To Dig Down Or Not To?

March 28, 2018, 25 pictures and a short film sequence

          Most images are approximately 768 x 1024 pixels in size, numbers in front of the picture descriptions are serial numbers of the original photo files. 39477. Planinsko polje valley as seen from the viewpoint south of the cave, on top of the clif, the water has receded considerably since last Wednesday. In a few days the Pod stenami Katavotroni sinkhole tops will open up and Unica will flow down in lovely waterfalls.

39490. A little lower the fissure borders are lined with moss ...


 

 


 
39492. ... until it opens into an artificially widened entrance shaft.


 

 

At the Cave Bottom


 


 
39493. The digging team left, so the photographer will not disturb the excavation process, and today's accomplishments are all there - view of the end of the tunnel where the collapse (in the background) begins.

39497. ... illuminated by the LED headlight put into the end of it. There is no visible hole to follow and it is also difficult to judge where the air current is coming from. But persistence will, if nothing else, clear the picture in the near future.


 

 


 
39498. The place is widened enough, there is room to dig and to have a bucket next to you.

39501. Almost everybody left the Članska vas shelter - just the smoke from the chimney reveals that the place was alive a little while ago.
