51056. On this trip the author was accompanied by Vladimir; the photo shows a view of the current cave bottom. The deer antlers, which Metod and Manč found on the April 27, with Marjan, Janez and Ičo, are still hidden, and are located to the left above a larger dark spot above the blue lantern.
51055. Horizontal view a little closer, blue lantern is now out of the picture, antlers with the skull are visible.
51054. Vertical view, up close
51053. Another wide-angle view, ...
51052. ... larger left (from the deer side) antles and ...
51051. ... the smaller right one.
51049. Less wide view (with less distortion), made with a SLR and not with the phone camera ...
51050. ... and a little less successful shot with the flash oriented to the ceiling, so that the deer's skull is better visible. The distance between the two antlers measures about 6.0 cm.
51057. An unintentional selfie, made by a phone set to audio control with loud speaking, which unfortunately also reacts to various other sounds, such as the closing of the wallet case cover.
51143. In order to date the find with radiocarbon dating (C14) and to determine the deer species, the antlers had to be brought from the cave and delivered to a research associate at the Paleotological Institute of the ZRC SAZU (Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts). As they were trapped among large collapse rocks, the antlers could not be freed in one piece, we had to saw off part of the left antler. In the photo: sawn part with a meter.
51141. Whole antlers. The length of the left one is about 707 mm.
