Kevdrc pri Kalčku Cave, Cad. Nr. 2507

35131. The entrance was completely covered with rotten branches and trunks, thrown there during the forest cleanup after the February 2014 sleet. After a bit less than an hour and the removal of this pile of branches and smaller trunks ...

35132. ... the entrance in the side of a collapsed doline opened up.

35124. The entrance - closer view

35130. A niche in the southern wall, some 2 m above ground

35128. The entrance leads to a sizeable chamber, up to 4 m high and about 10 m long. But it is too narrow to attempt an entry without caving suit.

35125. Detached slice of a larger spruce trunk that lies in front of the entrance.

35127. View out from the entrance - the only remaining large spruce far around is on the other side of the collapsed doline

35129. Mixed feelings - spruce treetop up close

35133. Kališka cesta road - view west over its bends from the forest track which leads to Krastača cave. Srnjak hill (919 m) is center left.

35134. Afternoon snack: pancakes, bread with raisins, yogurt, plum jam and apple compote with some aronia

35135. Manč, soaking wet and with eyeglasses (a filthy expensive brand) only half transparent because of mud, but still high spirited, is back.

35136. Brajko, the cave was really wet today.

35141. ... and a horizontal view.

35140. Metod, satisfied with today's progress

35139. After the camera was squeezed past the end of the tunnel the following picture could be taken: a meander, some 70 cm tall and of varying width turned right at first, then left and right again.

35138. A closer view

Članska vas Village

35143. On the table some Easter holidays leftovers were to be found, such as this piece of orehova potica - walnut cake ...

35144. ... and cooked smoked neck.

35149. A debate if any fishing would be possible during the May Day holidays in the Malni tributary of Unica river, on the other side of Planinsko polje valley, below the house where Žan lives. No way, answered Žan. The dam at the source was leaking badly for quite a few years now and just before holidays the municipal utility company demolition team is coming. The dam will be crushed and the water will be muddy for days.

35148. Late afternoon sun is peeking through the misty horizon.
