36826. Žan on top of the entrance shaft with another spruce rod that will be used in construction of the side collapse support at the end of the tunnel.
36827. After he received a Može! (Go!) from Gregor, who hid himself in a wall niche of the upper depot ...
36828. ... he let the rod fall down the shaft.
36829. View of the empty shaft with Gregor's light - he collected the rod to pass it on.
36830. Contre jour view of the forest undergrowth on the trail from Članska vas to Radošca cave, just before ...
36831. Riko popped up with another spruce rod. Gregor ordered three rods over the wire phone from the cave but as Ile, Članska vas phone operator, relayed the message to Žan and the latter took the saw to cut the bars to particular measures one bar was lost in the process. So Gregor ordered the missing rod again and Žan, reluctant to make the walk to the cave once more, sent Riko (just arrived) instead.
36832. Late blossoming St John's wort, Hypericum perforatum, šentjanževka in Slovenian
36833. Rok, in good mood again after Žan consoled him with an extensive, though in places rather rough advice from his treasury of experience in the matters of the heart.
36834. Below the Stari grad hill (left), in one of the southern bays of the Planinsko polje valley, just a stone's throw away from the castle ruins, ...
36835. ... in the deep shadow ...
36836 - 36838. ... Škratovka cave is to be found. After big rains it is a mighty spring, in dry season it is an interesting cave. The name comes from škrat, or gnome. In the picture: vertical panoramic view of the cave entrance from the outside. Gnome statue is on a shelf center left ...
36840. ... in a closer setting ...
36839. ... and here in full frame.
36841. Available light view out from the entrance hall ...
36843. ... here with the entire hall depicted, additionally illuminated by two side flash units. The floor is a maze of large rocks.
36844. View out from the upper chamber which leads to the syphon. Here the gravel floor is almost level.
36846. A small pool of water in the passage from the upper chamber to the entrance hall, on the shelf above the latter, calm ...
36847. ... and with a splash, created by a small stone thrown into it.
36848. View of the cave entrance from the meadow below it ...
36849. ... of the castle ruin ...
36850. ... and of the dry stream bed, active a high water level, against the afternoon sun.
36852. Next to the cave there is a small outbuilding where Marko keeps his animals, three goats and Miško, the donkey. A rather tame animal ...
36851. ... burst into an ecstasy of joy when Marko appeared with a bouquet of carrots, a delicacy for all the four.
36853. Afternoon snack: maize bread, goat yogurt, oatmeal cookies, mulberry jam, peach compote
36854. Manč in a rather high key setting. The camera was accidentally set to manual mode with values from Škratovka. The repeated shot with more appropriate seetings would please Manč and the audience considerably less.
36855. Five merry lads: Manč, Riko, Rok, Žan and Frenk
36856. Taking pictures in Škratovka took more time than anticipated. So the departure was rather hasty and the sun hat, neatly saved on a rock top at the exit, not to get dirty or crinkled, was left behind. Quite a few hours have passed and as Škratovka is a popular destination with visitors of the castle ruin and its neighbourhood ...
36857. ... the photographer was quite happy to find it again. It was the penultimate really hot day of the summer.
36859. Four arches of the old stone bridge, built in 1701 still serves the purpose.
36858. The downstream pool comes in handy for a dip in the, well, always rather cool water.
