Blowhole below the Jama S 16 (Socerb) cave

48414. About five meters below the entrance to the interesting S 16 cave, which begins with an abyss, Claudio found a smaller blowhole. He and Mauro have already dug it once, but there is still a lot of work to be done.

48415. He used a hammer to remove the edge of the rock that blocked the way forward.

48416. On the left side, he encountered a collapse, and in front of him there is a crack, big enough to put a hand in it, ...

48417. ... which soon bends down into a smaller abyss. To get there would require a lot of work, so some other, more lucrative site will be given priority.

48418. View of the Dolina village, oil reservoirs and Milje (Muggia) bay

48419. On the way to the Mala buža cave, not far away, there is the entrance to the abyss S 14 (Socerb).

48420. View of the entrance room, ...

48422. ... which continues with a dry tunnel of ever smaller dimensions.

48421. View from the entrance towards the valley, to the west

Jama S 15 (Socerb) cave

48423. Claudio at the cave entrance; during World War I, the cave and entrance were used by Austrian soldiers as a shelter on the front line.

48424. The entrance is a small doline that had a log roof at the time.

48436. View towards the entrance from the tunnel

48425. A side niche with concretions

48434. Soon a smaller hall opens up, on the west side it bends down into an (blind) abyss.

48427. On the north side of the hall there is a small platform ...

48435. ... with calcite concretions ...

48428. ... and a floor of several layers, of gravel and calcite sediment.

48432. The ceiling is richly ornamented ...

48431. ... with short stalactites which end with calcite straws.

48438. View to the west, towards the Bay of Koper, towards Piran, from the platform below the castle
