Križna jama
New eye, new perspectives

November 4 to 9, 15 pictures

The images are mostly 768 by 1024 pixels in size, numbers in front of the picture descriptions are serial numbers of the original photo files. Luka and Diana Avsec, Tit Sterle and Neža Košir participated in the excursion to Križna jama. After the excursion, Alojz and Andreja Troha provided the author with all he needed to stay out of trouble following his unfortunate fall into the water. The names of cave parts are sometimes the author's.
The purpose of the excursion to Križna jama was to test the Huawei Pura 80 Ultra phone (photos from PJ56202 onwards) in a cave environment. The cave photos were taken in "Night" mode, where the camera takes about 15 photos with an exposure time of 1/10 second in a 2- to 30-second capture time, which the camera software combines into one file, for the best result, both in terms of the balance of dark and light areas as well as in terms of colors and moving parts in the images - for example, of people who cannot be completely still for so many seconds. On this his occasion, the new light gray canvas caving suit with a helmet cover was also tested for the first time, and according to the author, it blends better with the scenes from Križna jama than the previous dark, gray-green one.

Cross Cave, November 9

56206. View along the stream Jezerski potok upstream from Ponor. Two lights, one hidden on the right edge of the picture and the other from the front, taken without a tripod, with a hazel stick for hand support, capture time 9 seconds, f 1.6, ISO 400.

56207. View from Pristan (Harbour) across the First Lake. Three lights, one on the left and right, the third with a narrow beam from the front to the center of the picture. Again handheld, capture time 7 seconds, f 1.6, ISO 400.

56214. View from the sandbank at the end of the First Lake to the other side (towards the north). Seven floodlights, none shining into the water so as not to spoil the reflections, capture time 10 seconds, f 1.6, ISO 400.

56215. Luka, Diana, Neža and Tit in a boat on the Second Lake, facing east, towards the Third Lake. The lighting was suggested by Luka: two waterproof lamps, such as are normally used for headlamps, in the water, one held by him, the other by Tit, and the helmet lamps, set to the lowest intensity. It obviously worked well. Capture time 3 seconds, f 1.6, ISO 12800. Two clicks on the image show it in full resolution. The brightness of the published image is increased by 50% and the contrast by 33%.

56217. View from the beginning of the Third Lake across the spillway to the Second Lake. Illumination of 5 floodlights, three of which are directed into the water, as well as the author's headlamp and another light in the water of the strait. Capture time 4 seconds, f 1.6, ISO 200.

56220. View upstream of the Third Lake to the spillway from the Fourth Lake. The author illuminates the low tunnel through which part of the water from the Fourth Lake flows, past the main riverbed. Capture time 7 seconds, f 1.6, ISO 400.

56222. Hollow stone in the western wall at the end of the Third Lake. The high stone flake along the wall is just a few centimeters thick. Capture time 2 seconds, f 1.6, ISO 400.

56223. Flowstone floor of the spillway from the Fourth Lake to the Third Lake, view upstream. Capture time 2 seconds, f 1.6, ISO 400.

56225. Flowstone buds in the stream bed below the spillway. Capture time 2 seconds, f 2.4, ISO 400.

56224. Rock pillar above the spillway from the Fourth Lake to the Third Lake, the author illuminates the side tributary, already visible in photo 56220. Capture time 2 seconds, f 1.6, ISO 400.

56226. Cat "monster" on the west wall, stalactites covered the dark gray base in just the right places. Capture time 3 seconds, f 2.4, ISO 400.
